Sculptures in wood

For many years Erik worked with organisational development and conflict resolution based on Rudolf Steiner's view of humanity. In 1993 he took part in a biography course in England, where he met the Austrian wood-carver Peter Nöbauer, who worked with organically shaped wood sculptures. The following year Erik visited Peter's workshop, learned to carve organic forms in wood and returned home with his first wood sculpture.

The working process

Tools: Primarily a gouge in different profiles and a mallet.
The Möbius form: In 1997 Erik returned to Nöbauer's workshop and carved a Möbius-shaped sculpture in lime wood. The form is both concave and convex in the same surface – this dynamic makes the sculpture resilient, interesting and alive.
Once you master carving a Möbius form, you master the organic language of form.
